Charles Wilkerson Jr., 27, was arrested around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29 after turning himself into police for stabbing a Mass General Brigham shuttle bus driver in the area of 3841 Washington Street in Roslindale earlier that same day, according to the Boston Police Department.

Wilkerson, of Norwood, began a fight with the shuttle bus driver and stabbed him in the leg. Police received reports of the stabbing around 4:45 p.m. and say the assault was related to a road rage incident.

The vehicle was stopped in traffic when the stabbing occurred, according to Serena Bronda, the external communications program manager at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The incident was "a random act of violence," Bronda said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and has since been treated and released, according to Bronda.

Police broadcasted descriptions of the suspect and his vehicle, but he turned himself into police later the same day.

Wilkerson was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
